I met Rachael through my best friend Christina this past Spring! I was so happy for her when she announced that she and her husband Michael were expecting a baby this Christmas! These two are entrusting ME with the incredible honor of photographing the birth of their son! What a privilege! Needless to say, we have gone from mutual friends as our connection to great friends! I'm so excited for these two and the adventure ahead of them!
I have read and heard a lot from people about how maternity photos are just "hands on the tummy" photos. As this is true, it goes so much deeper than that. These are not just hands on a tummy. These are the hands that will hold the child inside that tummy. Each baby belly is a miracle and a life to be celebrated. The hands being placed on the growing life inside the mother is significant in representing the anticipation and waiting the mother has. Those hands will pick up, dress, feed, hold, bathe, pat and caress. The "hands on a tummy" pose is beautiful in all that it means.
Enjoy this session where we traveled to Rock Creek Park in DC!
